POGO's Reaction To Robert Bauer Assuming White House Ethics Duties

August 6, 2010

According to Ed O'Keefe at the Washington Post this afternoon, "White House Counsel Robert Bauer will assume responsibilities for lobbying, transparency, government reform and a host of other government operations issues once White House ethics adviser Norman Eisen departs for his new role as ambassador to the Czech Republic, senior administration officials confirmed Friday."

"This is the news POGO wanted to hear. Although we have not always agreed, Norm Eisen has been a strong advocate for ethics and government reform. Having the President's Counsel heading up the portfolio, including continuing to push for passage of whistleblower protections for federal workers and contractors, is a sign the Administration will continue to keep a high priority on these essential reforms," said Danielle Brian, executive director, Project On Government Oversight. "We also look forward to working with Steve Croley, the new addition to Mr. Bauer's team."
