POGO Says FannieMae Case Shows Whistleblowers Still Subject to Retaliation

May 23, 2006

The Project On Government Oversight (POGO) today expressed grave concern over the continued inability to protect corporate whistleblowers from retribution exemplified by the FannieMae accounting scandal.

In a letter to the congressional committees that have jurisdiction over whistleblower protection issues and government sponsored enterprises such as FannieMae, POGO urged Members of Congress to repudiate the inaccurate depiction of whistleblower Roger Barnes and to ensure whistleblower protections granted by the Sarbanes-Oxley Act are upheld.
