Statement On The Eight-Month Delay In The Oil Royalty Rule

October 15, 1998

Danielle Brian, Executive Director of the Project On Government Oversight, commented on today's news that the White House has agreed to an eight-month delay in the implementation of the oil royalty rule:

"Oil money won this time, but the more time we get to expose the oil industry's all-out attack on the American public, the harder it will be for them to win next time."

Founded in 1981, the Project On Government Oversight (POGO) is a nonpartisan independent watchdog that champions good government reforms. POGO's investigations into corruption, misconduct, and conflicts of interest achieve a more effective, accountable, open, and ethical federal government.
