POGO Endorses H. Res. 40 Calling for Periodic Oversight Hearings

January 13, 2009

The Project On Government Oversight has sent a letter in support of H. Res 40, introduced last week by U.S. Rep. John Tanner, which requires periodic House committee hearings on waste, fraud, and abuse in government spending.  The House is expected to consider the measure this week.

Tanner, a founding member of the Blue Dog Coalition of fiscally responsible, conservative-to-moderate Democrats, represents Tennessee's 8th Congressional district in West and Middle Tennessee.

POGO strongly supports Rep. Tanner in his seeking a more systematic approach to Congressional oversight of federal agency programs and activities.

Founded in 1981, the Project On Government Oversight (POGO) is a nonpartisan independent watchdog that champions good government reforms. POGO's investigations into corruption, misconduct, and conflicts of interest achieve a more effective, accountable, open, and ethical federal government.
