Whistleblowers & POGO to Testify at Hearing on NASA IG

June 7, 2007

A Congressional hearing this afternoon will feature testimony by whistleblowers who alleged that the NASA Inspector General abused his authority and failed to root out waste, fraud, and abuse at the agency. Danielle Brian, Executive Director of the Project On Government Oversight, will also testify as will Robert Cobb, the NASA IG, and Senator Charles Grassley.

The hearing, entitled “Oversight Review of the Investigation of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) Inspector General,” is being sponsored by the Senate Commerce Subcommittee on Space, Aeronautics and Related Sciences, and the House Science Subcommittee on Investigations and Oversight. The NASA IG was the subject of an investigation by the President’s Council on Integrity and Efficiency which was prompted by a series of whistleblower disclosures and which resulted in Congressional leaders calling for the IG’s resignation.

The hearing will be held 2:00 p.m., Thursday, June 7, 2007 in Room 253 of the Russell Senate Office Building .
